About

ArcticaArctica blogging here. Born and bred Bavarian, and being rooted there for quarter of a century, I realised that beer, sausages, dumplings, and catholicism were not for me, and took my remaining German stereotypes (amongst others a liking for Jack Wolfskin equipment, slippers, Christmas markets, and proper airing of rooms) to Scotland. I might just have stayed there, had I not met the Finnish ‘Mr Always Right’. This first took me to Southern England, and a little more than a year later we both had packed all our belongings and sat on a plane to his homeland. Conveniently, I didn’t even have to adapt my internet name, which had been “Arctica” for years.

On this blog, I want to document my observations of life in Finland, from trivial to extraordinary.
